1 Queen's Road West

1 Queen's Road West is a rare pre-war tonglau likely built in the 1920s. Its defining feature is the original terrazzo signages on the exterior of the building advertising the products from the ground floor shop. The building sits at a 3-way  intersection of trade, entertainment, livelihood shops and residences in Sheung Wan. Once ubiquitous on the streets of Hong Kong, it is now one of the last few tonglaus with this type of terrazzo signage. Today, the G/F shop is home to a community shared space and is a popular hangout for kaifongs old and young. Join us to hear about the history of the building and its transformation into a community hub where its history and significance is enjoyed by all.
