Open Crit: Let's Talk about Architecture

From the early 19th century, the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris laid the foundations for what we now call the "studio crit". To this day, "crit" (short for critique) remains an indispensable part of architectural education worldwide. On the day of a crit, students present their design drawings and models in the studio, introducing their ideas to tutors, guests, and classmates, and preparing for intense debate. Every architectural designer has at some point received unsparing criticism and warm encouragement in equal measure; such experiences not only strengthen their resolve but also help them mature as designers.

This edition of Open House Hong Kong has featured around 80 architectural spaces. What are your thoughts on them? We invite designers, volunteers, participants, and anyone interested to join an Open Crit — a space where ideas can be shared openly and equally!
