Tai Tam Gap and Turtle Cove Pillboxes, Hong Kong Island
Share
The pillboxes at Tai Tam Gap and Turtle Cove on Hong Kong Island were constructed by the Hong Kong Government in the 1930s. Built from concrete and reinforced steel, they are among the few fortifications in Hong Kong accessible via public transport. Their features, including loopholes and ventilation shafts, remain in good condition. Exploring these pillboxes, located close to the city centre, offers insight into the possibilities for the conservation of military architectural heritage and sustainable development.
