ART HUB 22 is named after the iconic 22-block arcade tenement building on San Lau Street, Sha Tau Kok. Built between 1933 and 1934 to accommodate the expansion of the nearby Chung Ying Street market, the Grade 2 Historic Building is a fine example of pre-war Guangzhou-style shophouse architecture. The site was once the most vibrant market in Sha Tau Kok, bearing witness to the historic character and shared memories of the frontier boundary.

From 2024 to 2025, local artists and cultural groups moved into the complex. While carefully preserving the building’s authentic structural elements, such as historical masonry, arched verandas, and wooden details, they introduced sleek, modern display systems and aim to revitalise the historical landmark by connecting residents and visitors from different ages and districts through exhibitions, co-learning workshops, and Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) craftsmanship initiatives.
