Jockey Club - The Conservancy Association Urban Forestry Green Hub

Jockey Club - The Conservancy Association Urban Forestry Green Hub (JC-CA UF Green Hub), funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and completed in June 2023, is Hong Kong’s first urban forestry education centre. Utilizing a long-unused public space beneath an elevated highway, the centre aims to gather wisdom of tree conservation from various sectors, and convey it to the community through a diverse range of educational activities.

Facing challenges such as inaccessible roads, substantial underground utilities, and strict restriction on height, JC-CA UF Green Hub creatively employed modular structures to maximize space utilisation effectively harness natural shading and ventilation. The entire process, from design and construction to operation, adhered to environmentally friendly and low-carbon principles, showcasing the resilience and sustainability of the architectural design. This project has been awarded the Final Platinum rating under BEAM Plus New Buildings (NB) v1.2 and a Special Citation on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and shortlisted for the Green Building Awards 2023.
