Tsui Ping River

The Revitalization of Tsui Ping River is a one-kilometer urban design project, transforming a drab and musty Kwun Tong nullah into an ecologically sustainable river. To enhance connectivity and walkability of East Kowloon, the project team introduced six cross-river walkways, a floating pontoon, and six landscaped decks, creating valuable open spaces along the riverside. Pocket spaces with public seating and shading have been integrated into the riverside walkways, providing accessible resting areas. The balustrade design incorporates thin rods and glass to ensure visual transparency with the water, fostering a closer connection between the public and the river. To cultivate a diverse ecological habitat, various ecological devices have been installed, including bird perches, rock pools, tidal pools, and floating islands. The pedestrian paths are paved with bricks in a gradient of colors, in addition to a series of vibrant branding features. The use of curves in planters and balustrade designs offers visual surprises, while a lighting art installation further embellishes the area.
