Asia Society Hong Kong Center

The Asia Society Hong Kong Center is located at the former Victoria Barracks, offering a stunning view of Hong Kong's skyline and Victoria Harbour. The site features four former British military buildings, including the St. George's Block, built in the 1860s for mixed explosives; Ammunition Depot A, constructed between 1863 and 1868 with granite walls; Ammunition Depot B, built between 1905 and 1907, which included a rear lighting passage used for storing ammunition; and the GG Block, completed in the late 1940s, which is believed to have been used by the Royal Military Police's Special Investigation Branch and was also one of the locations for the ‘resistance policy’ during the immigration wave in Hong Kong in the 1970s.

The ammunition depot site was abandoned in the 1980s and later revitalised by the Hong Kong Government, transferring it to the Asia Society Hong Kong Center, which was transformed into a cultural, artistic, and knowledge hub in 2012.
