“Observing objects from the perspective of objects without the bias of the self is the foundation of antique stores. The process of integrating antiques into daily life, and delving into the origins of an antique to investigate its essence is known as ‘sapientia.’” is the core philosophy of DOUGUYA HATCHAREA. As an antique furniture-themed store, it sells repaired antique from Japan, pottery, antique furniture, original handcrafts and vintage books. Founder Pete Man sees each item as part of the aesthetic pursuit and as an aspect of the enthusiasm for life, and not just as commodities for sale.

Antique sellers often use “time” as a bridge across distance and events. When we want to record the passing of time, timepieces and antiques symbolize bystanders from one era after another.
