Jamia Mosque

The first mosque in Hong Kong, the Jamia Masjid was expanded in 1915, bearing witness to the growth of the Muslim community in Hong Kong. A historically significant building, the mosque is built in a rectangular shape with concrete and bricks, with an arched main entrance  and Arabic-style arched windows. Its Qibla is located in the west side of the mosque, facing the birthplace of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca. The Jamia Masjid is rich with the signature architectural features of Islamic mosques, and is a Declared monument. To this day, it remains a place of worship and an important place of gathering for the Muslim community in Hong Kong.
